LOCATION

Porto Heli town and Spetses island are situated on the east coast of the peninsula Peloponnese, on mainland Greece and is a small fishing village with a big harbor. The harbor is very busy in the summer with lots of restaurants and bars.

Fishing boats and private yachts are docked side by side. This gives Porto Heli and Spetses a very charming atmosphere.

There are many beaches and the public have free access to most. Porto Heli has always been the preferred holiday destination for the Athenians and has always been a bit “jet-set”. Porto Heli and Spetses are also recognized by celebrities, business tycoons, ship owners, presidents and royalty from all over the world. Both Porto Heli and Spetses are famous for its inhabitants, such as King Constantin of Greece, the King of Holland, President Putin, actors Sean Connery and Hugh Grant and many more.

The Greek shipping magnate Stavros Niarchos hosted Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981 for their honeymoon on his island just outside Porto Heli.

Many more celebrities and royalty come every year to take in this special place. Some people call it “The Hamptons of Greece”. Several well-known hotel chains are constructing large scale projects here, such as Amanzoe and Nikki Beach resorts. Spetses island is also famous for its 1930s hotel Posedonion.
