Built in 2015, it has a mix of traditional and contemporary – with a subtle nautical feel. The colors are soft whites and teals, with splashes of color. The blue shuttered windows and float curtains, the little lighthouses, boats and shells, the solid pine tables, and color-washed kitchen units remind guests that they are right beside the seaside.
There’s also a great sense of space, with vaulted ceilings, generously-sized verandas, and an expansive view of the sea. The large pool with its many sun loungers offers guests a great area to relax in.
There is air conditioning as well as a solar water heater with 24-hour hot water. There is a washing machine/dryer, and linens and slippers are provided. Other amenities provided include iron/ironing board, first aid kit, sewing kit, hair dryer, mosquito machine, and safety box. A complementary fruit and wine basket are presented on arrival, and there is a farewell gift on departure.
AROUND
This lovely modern villa is ideally located just a few miles from the island’s capital Fira and within a few miles of the airport, yet it is within easy reach of one of the island’s best beaches at Exo Gialos. It was built in 2015, but still retains much of the local character.
It is located in the quiet neighborhood of Exo Gialos, Karterados, near Monolithos beach, on the eastern side of Santorini. It mixes modern and traditional design features, with a respectful nod to local architecture.
The villa is 4km from the island capital Fira, making it a great base from which to explore the island. Don’t miss the Museum of Prehistoric Thira, which tells the story of Akrotiri and other ancient settlements through a stunning collection of Neolithic and Bronze Age artifacts. Many local craft studios are open relatively late, and many local wineries are free of charge.
Just 500m away is Monolithos beach, which took its name from the large rock ‘Monolitho’ upon which stands the church of Agios Ioannis. The beach has fine black sand, and the shallow wading waters make it ideal for children – plus there are a playground and a volleyball area on the beach.
The most famous seafood restaurants of the island are located 200m away, near the quiet beach of Exo Gialos, with its stunning rock formations and black sand, as well as a small fishing port.
The villa is surrounded by picturesque routes, which are great for walking and biking.
